McKay Erickson stammt aus der Rocky Mountain Region im Westen der Vereinigten Staaten. Er schloss sein Studium der Humanernährung an der Southern Utah University mit einem BS ab und erwarb anschließend einen MS in Tierwissenschaften an der University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
