In their pre-E3, 2005 press conference, Square Enix announced that an English version of the game would be released in the United States in 2006. It wasn't. The prevailing rumour is that the game will be released on Sprint mobile phones; it has not been verified. Before Crisis is the prequel to the 1997 PlayStation video game Final Fantasy VII, taking place during the six years prior to the events of that game.
