Produktbeschreibung
Autism is a psychological and heterogeneous developmental disorder due to the abnormal wiring between the different brain regions). It is a neuropsychiatric syndrome, derived from the Greek word autos, meaning an isolated self, in which a person keeps himself/herself isolated from the surrounding interactions.Autistic children encounter difficulties in accessing dental care. Attending dental visits can be a stressful experience for autistic children and their families. Sensory sensitivities, problems relating to social interaction and communication, and resistance to change can make dental visits unpleasant for autistic children. This may be reflected in their behavior, which can pose challenges for the dental team. A lack of awareness, education, and training about autism among dental health professionals (DHPs), together with the behavioral distress that autistic patients may experience, contribute to the reluctance of some DHPs to treat autistic children. This book intends to guide how to manage children with ASD in a dental clinic.
