This book is part of an art curriculum written from a Reformed, Christian perspective. The arts are a definitive part of this education. Produktbeschreibung
This book is part of an art curriculum written from a Reformed, Christian perspective. The arts are a definitive part of this education. Even as math, science, and history show us the power and wisdom of God in creation, so the arts provide the opportunity for close observation of all his works. But the arts contain an added dimension as well. They provide a studied manner in which to respond in praise of God's works, whether by music, poem, picture, or appreciation of such works by others. To respond in this way is the joy of the child of God. The lessons in Behold the Beauty are written with a view toward equipping the student to see the glory of God, especially in creation, and to praise him for it. The objective of each lesson focuses on specific aspects of the elements of art and the principles of design. The elements of art are the building blocks of composition. They include line, shape, texture, color, form, and value. The principles of design guide how the elements are to be used. They include unity, focal point, variety, contrast, balance, movement, rhythm, pattern, proportion, and perspective. Because the child of God desires to see the glory of his Maker in creation, the lessons also place a strong emphasis on observation. Expression, or how art communicates, is treated as well, along with some art history.
