This research was carried out on João Kambanda's property, located in Oshomokuyo in Ondjiva Province. The aim of the research was to evaluate the effect of different planting distances on the cultivation of peppers (Capsicum annuum) of the California Wonder variety, studying the morphophysiological and agricultural parameters of the plant in open field conditions. The experimental design used was a completely randomized block design with four treatments and three replications. Morphophysiological parameters and crop yield were evaluated, and the results obtained were statistically compared. The best results obtained in the open field in terms of morphophysiological parameters was treatment T1 with a planting distance of 0.40 m x 0.20 m with an average height of 36.03 cm, a stem diameter of 0.62 cm and 2 fruits per plant. The physiological indices also corresponded with a planting distance of 0.40 m x 0.20 m, a leaf area index of 0.11 m2, a photosynthetic potential of 2.82 m2/day,a TON of 0.50 g.m2.day-1 and a crop yield of 4.82 kg/m2.
