I've loved writing since I was a schoolboy and feel very privileged to still be making up stories many years later! It's easy to find inspiration and space to write here on the Isle of Wight, but the Jane Birchfield series-of which this is the fourth book-is very much grounded in Manchester, where I lived up to my early twenties. I've also written several plays and a collection of short stories. My career has included newspaper and magazine journalism, private and public sector communications, and freelance consultancy work. When I'm not glued to my desk, I love walking the dogs, living with an overgrown garden and reading.
