This book has been conducted as part of a much bigger study based on an international project involving the Private University of Education, Linz Diocese (PHDL) and respective partner institutions, the University of Edinburgh, York St. John University and St. Peter's School to name but a few. The aim of this research is it to determine the beneficial impact of mutual teaching placements abroad in terms of the participants' language proficiency. The study dedicated to this purpose has been carried out in cooperation with the English Department of PHDL and focuses on linguistic and cultural aspects, such as the acquisition of colloquialisms, idiomatic expressions and localisms by the participants.

Georg Alkühn, born in 1995 in Austria, submitted this thesis as part requirement for the degree of Bachelor of Education for New Secondary Schools at the Private University College of Education of the Diocese of Linz.
