Alan Balfour DA (Edin) MFA (Princeton) RIBA is Chairman of the Architectural Association, London. In a distinguished academic career he has taught at MIT, was Professor and Director of Studies at Georgia Institute of Technology, and Smith Professor and Dean of the School of Architecture at Rice University. He is the author of several books, including Rockefeller Center: Architecture as Theatre (1978) and Berlin: The Politics of Order 1736-1989 (1990), with contributions to The Edge of the Millennium (1993) and Cities of Excavation: The Work of Peter Eisenman (1994).
