Heather Sanders Connellee was born and raised in Baltimore. Since the age of fifteen, she has been exploring the trails in and around Baltimore. Her wanderlust and love of the outdoors has taken her to hiking trails across the country and around the world. She spent 6 months backpacking the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine. Heather is the former trail programs manager for the American Hiking Society where she spearheaded National Trails Day® and the National Trails Fund and lead various volunteer trail groups. Heather is editor of American Hiker magazine and writes for numerous outdoor and travel publications. She enjoys hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, kayaking, biking, and anything and everything outdoors. Heather and her husband Grant, along with two dogs and a cat, recently moved to Harford County, Maryland. Their bucket list is longer than the Mississippi River and includes a thru-hike of the Pacific Crest Trail, summiting Mt. Kilimanjaro, and bagging all 46 of the Adirondack High Peaks. Heather currently holds the position of Vice President at Leffler Agency, Inc., a Baltimore-based advertising firm. Heather's heart is in the mountains and home will always be Baltimore.
