The objectives of this study were to analyze the epidemiological and biological profile of adult subjects followed for beta thalassemia major and to evaluate their thrombotic profile.Thrombotic complications were identified in 4 patients, three of whom were classified as intermediate risk according to the TRT-RSS classification. Thrombophilia abnormalities were detected in 21 patients.The results point to the need to screen adult patients with beta thalassemia major for thrombophilia abnormalities in order to classify them, screen for thromboembolic complications, and provide appropriate monitoring.
