Between the Light and Darkness Angels dance in the light and demons slink in darkness and between the two I balance precariously, grasping for stability and gasping for breath while the world rushes by me. Refusing to give in and fall, to be tempted to let go I battle daily to stay here in this mortal realm between the light and darkness.

Autorenporträt
Contrary to popular belief, Brandy Davis, otherwise known as The Pumpkin Artist, grew up carving pumpkins just like everyone else - with the triangle eyes and nose and usually on Halloween. (Rumor has it she tried for a few years to get carved pumpkins to go mainstream for Christmas, using them as gifts stuffed with leftover Halloween candy, however that's still unverified.) Even though she grew up loving and pursing art, she never imagined in her wildest dreams that she would grow up to be a Professional Pumpkin Carver. In the last decade she has been a 2018 Guinness World Record Holder for the Largest Jack-O'-Lantern ever carved (2,077lbs!), competed on Food Network's Halloween Wars and Food Network's Outrageous Pumpkins, and is now co-creating this peculiar book with an amazing artist who is about to become the president (see bio below). She still regrets not finding out about the awesome art of 3D pumpkin carving sooner - like that first time she tried a maple-bacon donut and thought, "Where have you been all my life?" Today Brandy is making up for lost time and continues to carve her award winning 3D pumpkins for various prestigious venues and companies all over the continental U.S., gathering her wide-spread praise and acclaim for her talent. And even though she wrote the poems in this book, she offers a disclaimer saying, "I'm not a poet, I'm just a pumpkin carver with a sense of humor. My only hope is to bring a smile to the faces of anyone who is in need of a surge of fun, inspiration and magic in their lives - for children and the children-at-heart."
