"Beyond Language Correctness in S qat al-Shu ar 's Poetry: Ibn Harma's Poetic Imagery as a Case Study" is a study which investigates the term S qat al-Shu ar and its implications in Arabic criticism. As the term appeared at the beginning of critical activity when the critical standpoints were a mixture of the philological and the artistic, it became problematic. Therefore, this study is an attempt to investigate the origins and implications of the term by analysing critical texts mentioning the term and exploring the nature of criticism in that era, evaluating its assumptions and its arguments concerning the term. The analysis of Ibn Harma's poetic imagery sheds light on the poet's style and his position with regard to traditionalism and innovation. It also reveals some of the poet's perspectives on himself and on issues occurring in his time. Ibn Harma's poetry is used as a case study to examine the implications of the term S qat al-Shu ar and the style of these poets.
