Author Biography: From the schoolyard underdog to a baseball luminary, my journey in baseball spans over five decades, marked by resilience, passion, and an unwavering commitment to the sport. As a young student-athlete, I often found myself at the tail end of team selections, a testament to my initial struggles on the field. However, I transformed my trajectory through sheer determination and an embrace of failure as a stepping stone. By the time I graduated from high school, not only had I secured a coveted baseball scholarship to Arizona State University, but the Chicago Cubs also chose me in the 1981 MLB draft's 13th round. My extensive experience encompasses over twenty years as a head coach across high school, travel baseball, and NCAA D3 levels. Opting for retirement from coaching as my sons embarked on their baseball journey, I've witnessed firsthand the commercialization of youth baseball, emphasizing its business-centric approach over genuine player development.Having authored four seminal books on youth baseball, I've been recognized for bestsellers such as "Fun Over Fear" tailored for families with budding athletes aged 3-9, "THE PROCESS" for those navigating the challenges of ages 10-16, and "The Recruiting Process" providing insights for families with athletes aged 15-21. My unique vantage point, derived from roles as a player, head college coach, and parent, equips me with a holistic perspective few can claim. This trifecta of experiences allows me to offer invaluable guidance to families, helping them discern the worthwhile from the redundant in the realm of youth baseball. My proudest moments include witnessing my sons' collegiate baseball journeys, with my youngest achieving the remarkable feat of being a two-time MLB FIRST ROUND selection - the sole New England student-athlete to achieve this distinction in the MLB draft's 58-year history.Today, as a public speaker, podcast host, consultant, and celebrated author, I am on a mission to demystify the youth baseball experience. I've had the honor of being a guest speaker at schools and youth programs nationwide, sharing insights and strategies grounded in real-life experiences. My goal? To provide families with a clear game plan, ensuring they invest their time and resources wisely, all while championing the true essence of the sport.
