The story is about a couple who are childhood sweethearts growing up in Boyle Heights. After an accident separates them, they find each other while serving in the military service in Japan. They suffer a few problems while in service but with the strength of their love, they are able to overcome these obstacles. They solidify their relationship by getting married and help to unite a community.

Autor

This is Leopoldo's third novel that he has written. His first book was titled, "State Street Orphans, An Untold Story" is the memoir of his life growing up in East Los Angeles. His second book, "The Mago Lives on Pomeroy Street" is the love story of a young couple growing up in Boyle Heights. His third book, "Beyond the Streets of Boyle Heights" is the continuing saga of the young couple. He grew up in Boyle Heights, so his writing is influenced by his life in this area. He served in the Marine Corps and was stationed in Iwakuni, Japan. He is a retired teacher who lives in Clovis, California.
