The Bible. To the faithful it represents the written record of God's interaction with mankind. The unerring word of God from the creation of the Universe, to the resurrection of His son Jesus Christ. To the non-believer, the Bible represents little more than a collection fairy tales, fables and myths, designed solely to judge and restrict. Somewhere in the middle, the skeptic, believes portions of the Bible are truthful, but insist many elements remain unreliable and historically inaccurate. Is there any way to reconcile who is right? Is there a scientific method to prove, or disprove, the Bible's historical accuracy? This task falls to the science of archaeology, the study of man's past based on excavations and collected artifacts. Can archaeology provide enough evidence to prove the Bible accurate, or once and for all dismiss the Bible as nothing more than a popular mythology? In this text we will look at ancient documents, ruins and more than two hundred individual artifacts which directly relate to the lands, peoples and events depicted in the Bible. We will explore excavation sites in Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Turkey and all across Israel. A single project in Jerusalem has lasted an amazing nineteen years and produced more than six hundred thousand artifacts, many dating back three thousand years. We will examine the tools of the modern archaeologist, profile some of the world renown scientists who have dedicated their lives to retrieving and documenting the history of the Lands of the Bible. From the palace of King David, to the Dead Sea scrolls. From the First Temple to the Holy Chalice. Can the historical elements, peoples and events of the Bible be proven accurate? Join the search, and draw your own conclusions.
