Following Numbers 11 and 1 Peter 5:1-5, Biblical Eldership shows how Pastor Scott Kelso developed a transferable template for calling and discipling a group of local-church elders, who multiply the pastor's ministry within a congregation. Originally a Doctor of Ministry project titled "Raising Up Biblical Eldership and Its Implications for Charismatic Ministry in the Local Church," Biblical Eldership shows exactly how Kelso multiplied Spirit-filled ministry in his United Methodist church and then how his success repeated in the churches of several other pastors in his central Ohio area, when they tried his approach. The major themes emerging from the experience of Kelso and his pastoral colleagues were these: confidence in ministry, expectation in ministry, anointing in ministry, and humility. The data he collected shows how calling and training elders resulted in significantly more effective ministry in the congregations they served. Biblical Eldership reports on this twice-proven approach to shared ministry in such a way that leaders of other congregations can move from seeing how it was done to seeing how they can do it themselves.
