A host of conflicting voices clamor for attention in interpreting the Bible, particularly as to what it says about sex and marriage. A host of conflicting voices clamor for attention in interpreting the Bible, particularly as to what it says about sex and marriage. Yet, in a way, isn't it arrogant for anybody to maintain that God was not capable of having His Holy Book written clearly or that God needed help to explain what He really meant? This book lays out what the Bible literally says based on the plain meaning of its words. As to the literal, we can all agree. We cannot agree on interpretations as they necessarily differ among the well-intentioned as well as those having special agendas. This is not to say that the Bible covers everything, because it doesn't. Only where the Bible is truly silent on a matter, each person should be free to say what she or he wills. Thus, we come back to what the Bible literally says, and only that, about sex and marriage. This book lays out what the Bible's plain words say and quotes from the Bible where particularly useful. Citations to verses of the Bible are provided so that readers might verify the author's statements by checking the Bible they happen to have at home. The "Bible" is the Old Testament and also the Hebrew Bible, the two Scriptures being virtually the same.Six different translations or versions of the Bible were used in writing this book. Although the translated words could and do differ, the gist was the same except in a couple of instances where the matter was noted and discussed. Translation was not a problem. The only source for this book, Biblical Sex, is the Bible itself. No external source was needed. We can research or speculate as to what was going on in the ancient society, but it would be pointless as the words of the Bible itself tell us enough about that society.Nothing is taken for granted about a reader's biblical knowledge or lack thereof. Everything is explained and proven with citations to the exact places in the Bible. Reading this book is like going on a romp though the Bible, and you'll wind up being much more knowledgeable about your religion, not just about sex and marriage. Biblical Sex is written simply and makes for a surprisingly easy and intriguing read.
