The monograph considers scientific-methodical bases to help study a big town's territorial-functional organization and strategy of development. In the case of Chernivtsi: the town's territory assimilation and development specificities are disclosed; functional specialization of small taxonomic units (planning districts and zones) is defined; problems of and territorial disproportions in social-economic development are outlined; territory assimilation planning restrictions are assessed and alternatives for the town's further economic growth are discussed.
