Autorenporträt
Douglas Hirt earned a bachelor's degree from the College of Santa Fe and a master of science degree from Eastern New Mexico University. During this time, he spent summers living in a tent in the New Mexico desert, conducting biological surveys for the US Department of Energy. Doug drew heavily from this desert life for his first novel, Devil's Wind. Doug's 1991 novel, A Passage of Seasons, won the Colorado Authors League Top Hands award. His books, Brandish and Deadwood, were 1998 and 1999 finalists for the SPUR award given by the Western Writers of America. Bone Digger, his 2015 novel, received the Peacemaker award from Western Fictioneers. A short-story writer and author of over forty books and numerous articles, Doug makes his home in Colorado with his wife Kathy. They have two children and two grandchildren. When not writing or traveling, Doug enjoys restoring old English sports cars.
