Environmental pollutants such as industrial and agricultural chemicals, heavy metals, drugs and products with hormonal activity accumulate in living organisms and may disrupt reproduction of aquatic wildlife such as fish. Environmental pollutants such as industrial and agricultural chemicals, heavy metals, drugs and products with hormonal activity accumulate in living organisms and may disrupt reproduction of aquatic wildlife such as fish. This study demonstrates that a long-Term toxicity Test with xenobiotics like DDT and Arochlor1254 at concentrations which cause low or no mortality and no visible sign of Stress cause disruption of the male reproductive System. Furthermore they affect sperm development, viability and life Span as a result of their cytotoxicity. All these effects are more induced when the mixture of both xenobiotics is used, meaning some toxic chemicals could react synergically resulting to an increase of the toxicity. These observations make the zebrafish to be one of the most promising vertebrate systems for studies of toxicology.
