The Institute of Bibliographic Research (IIB), as a research entity in the Coordination of Humanities of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), conducts research whose purposes are closely related to the essential and specific activities of these units, in order to pay greater attention to the development of its long-accredited scientific work.With this criterion, a line of research considered, at the time, as a relevant approach to the contribution of new knowledge was incorporated; and also as the scientific transcendence of bibliographic production: biobibliography.This in order to understand the social historical context in which the authors produced those writings. The biobibliographies project was considered as one of the research lines of the Instituto de Investigaciones Bibliográficas, although it had several ups and downs.
