The conventional endodontic treatment aims to provide conditions for the body to heal the pulp disease and allow the affected tooth to reestablish its aesthetic and functional functions. However, when this is not possible, due to the maintenance of persistent bacteria inside the root canal, endodontic retreatment is performed. Another artifice for the maintenance of the dental element is the paraendodontic surgery, commonly performed when all other previous treatments failed and, for this, it is necessary the choice of a good material to seal the cavity of the retropreparation. The purpose of this study was to present, through a review of the literature, the bioceramic cements available in the market (iRoot BP®, EndoSequence®, MTA Repair HP Angelus®, TotalFill BC sealer® and RetroMTA®), and to demonstrate their clinical applications as fillers and periapical sealers. A bibliographic survey was conducted in the Pubmed database where 26 of the 30 articles found were selected.
