Faba bean tannin and soybean saponin freez-dried extracts prevented CCl4-induced chronic liver damaged in rats. Also the extracts improved the deposition of collagen and slightly the repair of hepatocytes. We suggested that these extracts can suppress the onset and reduced liver fibrosis induced by CCl4 in rats. However, the mechanism and active components of these extracts require further studies.
