Environmental issues due to increase in usage of vehicles especially with low mileage. Environmental issues due to increase in usage of vehicles especially with low mileage. In addition, issues related to crude oil and fossil fuel always put a question mark on the judicial use of them and dangers due to them. Only one solution is so far revealed is the invention of renewable fuel at a cheaper rate. Biodiesel is the prime one in that list. This book is focusing mainly on the emission parameters generally measured for the vehicular pollution. Alkali catalyzed transesterification of Jatropha oil (prime feedstock for India for the production of biodiesel)was carried out, which is now a day almost commercially applicable technique. It was used as a fuel in single cylinder diesel engine. The results were very appreciative. It shows that we can control the pollution level and reduce them drastically, even with 20% of biodiesel blended with 80% petrodiesel. Hence, biodiesel may be the only solution to all the problems related to the usage rate of crude oil. Also, it seems cheap, economical and very easy to produce.
