Our aims were to describe the morphology, the biometric characteristics, establish the barymetric equations of live weight and analyse the genetic variability of the pig population of the humid forest with monomodal rainfall agroecological zone of Cameroon. Our aims were to describe the morphology, the biometric characteristics, establish the barymetric equations of live weight and analyse the genetic variability of the pig population of the humid forest with monomodal rainfall agroecological zone of Cameroon. The discriminant analysis revealed a population made of three genetic types, with type III having the highest/best characteristics. The phylogenetic analysis showed that type I and II are closest and type II and III are genetically more distant. This offers rooms for genetic improvement. Characterisation, leading to Conservation and sustainable used of indigenous pig genetic resources in Cameroon's smallholder production system: presenting opportunities in the threats genetic erosion, climate change, low productivity and disease susceptibility, etc. This review if the Bakosi/Bakweri pig genetic diversity, a breed at a time thought to be extinct, revamp hope and further research would enable breeders and farmers to select stocks or develop new breeds in response to changing conditions, including climate change, and provide new orientation to the overall development of pig industry in the context of the threatening ASF.
