So, surveys were conducted and studies on different management options that include varietal resistance and use of different forms of botanicals. Surveys were conducted in rift valley haricot bean growing areas, while management experiments were conducted at Melkasa Agricultural Research Center (MARC). Surveys were conducted in 90 households. Survey results showed that the Mexican bean beetle, Zabrotes subfasciatus (Boheman), was the most damaging pest attacking haricot bean in the store and it was recorded from 88% of the sampled stores.
