Seafood processing industries are increasingly growing in developed and developing societies due to continuous market demand and stability. As this industry generates large amounts of wastewater contains high concentrations of organic pollutants. Such components are dangerous for aquatic ecosystem and living human environment due to oxygen depletion and eutrophication of receiving water bodies. This book examined the performance of suspended growth fixed-bed bio-reactor (SBBR) in batch for seafood wastewater treatment. In treatment 1, the reactor was arranged with a novel acryl fiber namely biofringe with activated sludge (BF+AS), while in treatment 2, it was arranged with only activated sludge (AS) system. The reactor capacity was 10 liters (L), which was maintained at room temperature (26± 2oC) and pH level of 7.0±0.5. The removal performances in treatments 1 and 2 were evaluated in terms of chemical oxygen demand (COD), biochemical oxygen demand (BOD5), total kjehldahl nitrogen (TKN), ammoniacal nitrogen (NH3-N), nitrate ( NO3-N) and nitrite (NO2- N). It was observed that BF+AS significantly removed nitrite and nitrate from the the wastewater, compared to AS.
