Founded by Houégbadja in the 17th century, the kingdom of Danxomè has been ruled by several monarchs. Among these monarchs, we count Prince Houessou, future Akaba and successor of Houégbadja. He came to power in 1685 and continued his father's work, which included the domination of several localities and territorial expansion through wars. As a twin, he shared the kingship with his sister Tasi Hangbé until her death in 1708.
