Silver nanoparticle complexes of glycyrrhizic acid were prepared by two methods - one by complexing pre-synthesized silver nanoparticles with glycyrrhizic acid and second by reducing silver nitrate with glycyrrhizic acid. The prepared complexes were characterized by obtaining X-ray Diffraction analysis and Scanning electron microscopy and analyzed for antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities. The complexes possessed a more enhanced antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity than glycyrrhizic acid. The complexes were found to be nontoxic in Swiss albino mice when orally administered for 14 days.
