For an objective targeting the exploitation of plant metabolites with biological activity, this study is interested in the research of these molecules in the plant Silene inflata. Previously, this plant has never been the subject of chemical and biological investigations. The chemical analysis of the extracts of this plant reveals the presence of several chemical groups likely to express biological activities. The results of the determination of total polyphenols of the extracts of the plant Silene inflata, estimated by the method of Folin-Ciocalteu, reveal that the extract AcOET is the richest in polyphenols. The antioxidant activity by the reduction of the DPPH free radical, shows that the three extracts can act as free radical scavengers but the most important anti radical capacity was observed with the methanolic extract. The antibacterial activity of the plant and its extracts against four pathogenic bacteria tested by the agar diffusion method, shows that some of them have an antibacterial effect that exceeds those of gentamicin and penicillin. Key words: Silene inflata, Metabolites, antioxidant activity, antibacterial activity.
