Produktbeschreibung
Salacia oblonga, belonging to the family Celastraceae is an important medicinal plant available in India and Srilanka. Phytochemicals were extracted in different solvents. The total phenolics and flavonoids in the aerial and root parts were indicated as Gallic acid and quercetin equivalents respectively. The Aerial and root extracts have shown strong reducing ability by reducing power and FRAP assays. The extracts shown significant IC50 values in DPPH, super oxide and nitric oxide radical scavenging assays. Individual phenolic compounds were identified from the extract by HPLC and cytotoxic and cytoprotective effects on human lymphocytes were evaluated. Extracts have significant protective activity against H2O2 induced cytotoxic activity. The extracts displayed low IC50 values (<50µg/ml) when assessed for antiproliferative activity against breast cancer cell lines using the MTT assay. Ethyl acetate extracts of S. oblonga parts have shown significant growth inhibition against drugresistant pathogens. Bio active compounds were isolated and identified from the crude extracts and active fraction By using different different chromatographic techniques.
