Following numerous accidents related to the handling of biological fluids in clinical biology laboratories, the Douala General Hospital decided to undertake a biological risk assessment in the laboratory; this was done with a view to establishing a plan to identify the dangers related to exposure to biological products. To achieve this, we carried out an inventory through QQOCCP tools, interviews and checklists, and then identified hazardous situations based on the observation of real work situations and according to the method of preliminary risk analysis and potential hazards, in order to carry out an easy assessment. At the end of this study, a large number of hazards were identified and the search for solutions to prevent these risks was condensed into a table named unique documents of biological risks in the clinical biology laboratory of the general hospital of Douala and given to the person in charge of biosafety of the laboratory.
