A survey was conducted from April to June in 2012 in four districts (Lalitpur, Kathmandu, Kavre and Bhaktapur) to depict the pest status of Liriomyza huidobrensis (Blanchard). Among the surveyed site, average damage on foliage leaves was recorded highest in Kavre district (32%) followed by Bhaktapur (26%), Kathmandu (25%) and Lalitpur (16%). It was found that the pest infestation increased with increase in altitude. Biology of L. huidobrensis was investigated on potato plants in the laboratory of Entomology Division of Nepal Agriculture Research Council (NARC), Khumaltar, Lalitpur during April to June, 2012. Male and female ratio of lab emerged adults was 1:1.39. The average egg, larval and pupal development period was recorded 4.75±0.335 (range: 4.00 ¿ 6.00); 10.08±0.238 (range: 9.5-11) and 12.19±0.233 (range: 11.5-13.00) days, respectively. Life table studies showed the low mortality in adult stages (13.72%) compared to initial life stages (egg: 48.26%, larva: 41.17% and pupae: 27.14%, respectively).
