The present investigations entitled "Biomass and Carbon allocation in Cedrus deodara, Fraxinus floribunda and Ulmus wallichiana tree species of Kashmir" were carried out in plantation block of Faculty of Forestry, SKUAST- Kashmir during 2009 and 2010 with the objective of estimating volume, aboveground biomass and carbon stock of tree species and also soil carbon pool. During demarcation and enumeration for measurements Cedrus deodara, Fraxinus floribunda and Ulmus wallichiana were selected for the study. The quadrat size for each species were 10 × 10 m following a spacing of 2 × 2 m.These tree species were then classified into three diameter classes viz; 10-20 cm, 20-30 cm and 30-40 cm except Fraxinus floribunda whose first diameter class was 0-10-cm owing to their small diameter. Thus 24 trees from each species were selected for the study which was planted 19 years ago by the Faculty of Forestry. During the course of study, data pertaining to various parameters like volume, biomass, carbon stock and soil carbon pool was recorded.
