This study evaluated the use of natural flocculants (tanfloc, chitosan and cationic madioca starches) and mixture of inorganic flocculants (iron III sulfate, iron III chloride, aluminum sulfate and iron II sulfate) with tanfloc for biomass recovery from tubular photobioreactors of 10 m³ using swine wastewater as culture medium in ambient conditions of temperature and light. It was sought to compare the costs of biomass processing using tanfloc and chitosan, and before the results obtained it was possible to realize the ability of tanfloc to compete with chitosan with respect to the flocculation of microalgae.
