Biomedical photonics is defined as the science of harnessing light and other forms of radiant energy to address problems in medicine and biology. The field has experienced explosive growth due to the non-invasive or minimally invasive nature and cost-effectiveness of photonic modalities in medical diagnostics and therapy. The first volume focuses on the fundamentals and advanced optical techniques and devices. It is an authoritative reference source for those involved in the research, teaching, learning, and practice of medical technologies.
