A biosensor is a self-contained integrated device which is capable providing specific quantitative analytical information using biological recoginition element which is in direct spatial contact with tranducer element. Different biosensing compound viz.,enzymes, antibodies, microorganism and plant tissues are using in biosensors as a recoginition element. Different types of biosenors such as electrochemical, optical, calorimetric, Acoustic and immunosensors which are used for pesticide detection. Among them enzyme like AchE, BchE and organophoshorus hydrolyse based electrochemical biosensors are commonly used biosensors. Analytical devices based on the OPH and cholinesterase inhibition have been widely used for the detection of carbamates and organophosphrus. OPH -broad substrate specificity and is able to hydrolyze a number of OP pesticides. Under microorganism biosensing compound, Immobilised cells of Flavobacterium sp have been used for the detection of methyl parathion. Pretext of all these aspects are explained in detailed manner, and use of biosensor will increase the efficient, safe and reliable detection and quantification of pesticides.
