Produktbeschreibung
This book presents some alternative biological treatments for liquid radioactive waste containing americium-241. We use bacteria, fungi and algae products as biosorbents in the treatment of these tailings, which can and must be treated in such a way as not to allow environmental contamination. Liquid radioactive waste is extremely dangerous because it can leak through cracks in the compartments where it is stored and percolate into the ground, reaching bodies of water. Research in this field is extremely important due to the fact that these tailings are stored, occupying large spaces and posing risks of contamination. The biosorption process reduces the volume of tailings by more than 90 per cent, as well as making them solid, which makes them easier to contain.
