Bioactive compounds present in the plants are gaining importance. These compounds contain complex mixture of many naturally occurring phytochemicals and have synergistic role in metabolic functioning. There is a necessity to conserve such medicinal plants containing phyto-compounds for better treatment practice.Amaranth considered to be a weed plant in the society, need to be conserved because it valuable pharmacological property. The book highlights the antioxidant potential, genetic composition, antitumour potential of plant Amaranthus L. India, a country with blooming pharmaceutical industry demands for herbal raw material in large scale. Isolation of pure compounds from herbal drug is necessary to reduce the expensive drugs in playing vital role in treating diseases. Anticancer molecules derived from herbs will provide an untrapped resource on a commercial scale that can cheaply, economically obtained in a profitable manner. This study can lead to furthering our knowledge of the poorly researched species and possibly develop management or conservation strategies.
