Cultures across the globe have long been fascinated by the avian world, with different birds inviting different meanings. Many of us were dazzled by birds' feathered beauty or seduced by their melodies. Even today, birds are hugely symbolic. From songbirds to seagulls, nightingales to morning larks, we still use the cultural language of the avian world. Even in our modern, rational world, magpies and peacocks still invite superstitions.
