Autorenporträt
Mark Norton was born in Ledbury in Herefordshire but grew up in Birmingham, the original home of his parents. In 2005 he set up a website - http: //www.photobydjnorton.com/ - dedicated to displaying photographs taken by his late father. Initially focusing on pictures of Birmingham, this lead to the publication of his first book, 'Birmingham Past & Present: In My Father's Footsteps'. A fascination with the history of Birmingham developed and a follow up title, 'Birmingham Then and Now', was published in October 2010. Now Mark has focussed on one of his father's favourite subjects, Birmingham New Street Station, to tell the long and fascinating history of the building that lies at the heart of the city. Mark works as a software developer in Birmingham city centre but lives in nearby Bromsgrove. He is a member of the Bromsgrove Society and is interested in many aspects of local history, particularly the preservation and enhancement of historic buildings.
