The moon hung low, fat and full, casting an eerie glow over the abandoned warehouse at the edge of town. Sophie tightened her grip on the USB drive in her pocket, her heart hammering in a rhythm she hoped wouldn't betray her fear. This was insane. Blackmailing anyone was a bad idea. Blackmailing him was suicidal. The sound of footsteps echoed behind her, slow and deliberate, and she turned to see Dominic emerge from the shadows. He was taller than she remembered, his presence filling the cavernous space like a storm rolling in. His eyes glinted silver, catching the moonlight, and his jaw was set in a way that made it clear he wasn't here to play games. "Do you have any idea what you're doing?" Dominic growled, his voice low and dangerous. Sophie swallowed hard but forced herself to stand her ground. "I know exactly what I'm doing." She pulled the USB drive from her pocket and held it up. "This has everything, Dominic. Photos, recordings-evidence of what you really are. One email, and it's all over for you." His lips curled into something between a smirk and a snarl. "And what exactly do you want in exchange for your silence?" She hesitated, her bravado wavering for a moment. "I need your help," she said finally. "There's someone after me-someone worse than you. You protect me, and I keep your secret." Dominic laughed, a low, guttural sound that sent shivers down her spine. He took a step closer, and Sophie had to fight the urge to back away. "You think you're in control here?" he said, his voice like gravel. "Do you know what I could do to you before you even hit 'send' on that email?" Her hand trembled, but she didn't lower the drive. "Maybe," she said, her voice steadier than she felt. "But if I go down, I'm taking you with me." For a long moment, they stared at each other, the tension crackling like electricity. Then, to her surprise, Dominic smiled-a sharp, wolfish grin that made her stomach flip. "Fine," he said, his voice dripping with dark amusement. "You've got yourself a deal. But let me give you some advice, little human." He leaned in close, his breath warm against her ear. "You should be more afraid of me than whoever's chasing you." As he turned and disappeared into the night, Sophie let out a shaky breath. She wasn't sure if she'd just won or signed her own death warrant.
