Miriam DeCosta-Willis is a former University of Maryland, Baltimore County professor, Howard University department chair, and the first Black faculty member at Memphis State University. Since receiving a B. A. degree from Wellesley College and M. A. and Ph. D. degrees from Johns Hopkins University, she has published nine books.
