Don lives in Portland, Oregon, most widely known as the location for TV shows Portlandia, Grimm and Leverage. He is a member of Willamette Writers and Oregon Writer's Colony, and is the Volunteer Coordinator for the annual Willamette Writers Conference with over 1000 attendees. He also volunteers with Oregon Writer's Colony staging author workshops and literary events. He graduated from Idaho State University with a degree in Journalism and worked as news reporter at several newspapers in Portland where he covered police and city government. As a teenager, Don was a voracious reader of Agatha Christie, Arthur Conan Doyle, Dashiell Hammett, and other mystery authors and loves all kinds of mysteries. He writes thriller and hard-boiled yarns "but somehow humor manages to sneak into my writing voice," Don says. He also writes a blog on writing and getting publishing called I Love A Mystery. He has a short story available on Kindle called "Death Fits Like a Glove." It features the debut of woman sleuth Billie Bly, a tough female Private Investigator who turns a petnapping case into a lethal climax. He currently is working on another Billie Bly mystery-thriller, The Drone Apocalypse, about an assassin who converts a remote control aircraft into a drone to kill a popular presidential candidate.
