Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:3-12 (NIV) The Beatitudes are 8 blessings recounted by Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount in the Gospel of Matthew. The Beatitudes are spoken in two parts: the CONDITION and the RESULT. With each Beatitude, Jesus gives new meaning to the Old Testament way of life by revealing that people who were perceived as "unfortunate" are the ones truly "blessed". Jesus teaches that the unpromising circumstances people suffer are what make them promisingly favored by God. The Greek word for Beatitude is "HAPPINESS", "Happy are those who…" Each week you will cover the Beatitudes beginning with the poor in spirit. My prayer is that in the coming weeks God will breathe new life into your difficult journey. I pray that by our Heavenly Father revealing His promises for us through His Word and prayer, you are consumed by the need to walk on water alongside Jesus, never to feel like you're drowning again. God's love and complete trust in YOU is what sets you and me apart as moms of special needs children.

Autorenporträt
BETHANY THOMAS is a wife and mom of two incredible special needs children. As a mom of children with disabilities, she struggled for years to find the purpose in her role. For a long time, she was isolated and felt hopeless as she watched her children struggle. She was raised in a loving Christian home where God came first but felt like she was losing faith. In 2016, Bethany began attending a women's Bible study where she met the powerful and mighty prayer warrior women of Majestic Church. It was there that she met, and fell in love with God, Jesus, and God's Word, the Bible. Because of her faith-filled childhood, she'd only sought peace through prayer (and wine), but was still left feeling as if something was missing. Her time with the amazing women of Majestic Church Bible study revealed that it wasn't WHAT was missing, but WHO was missing--Jesus Christ. As she grew in her faith and dove deep into scripture, Jesus revealed Himself in Matthew 25:31-40. It was then that she learned her children were not only made for a divine purpose, they represented the very image of Jesus, "the least of these". With this new understanding of her role as their mom, she found VICTORY and KINGDOM PURPOSE. She now leads a Bible study for other moms of special needs children and writes all the lessons they study. Her prayer is that every mom whose circumstances feel overwhelming due to their child's disability will find the same freedom and purpose through a loving, intimate relationship with Jesus Christ and God the Father. Bethany hopes to share her story, preach, teach, and inspire women all over the country who are aching for what they need most but cannot find on their own--HOPE. She is determined to bring God back into the center of every home where someone with a disability lives. With God, they will discover what He revealed her her personally - that they are trying to "fix what's NOT broken".
