In Blessed, Frederick "Fritz" Schreiber recounts events over the last 98 years of his life, beginning with his childhood along Central Avenue in St. Paul, part of the Rondo Neighborhood that was later destroyed during the construction of I-94. While growing up, he attended McKinley and Mechanic Arts High School, two schools that also no longer exist. He describes his summers spent teaching drivers' education, working on the fireworks crew at the Minnesota State Fair, and fishing the lakes of northern Minnesota.
