They have been warned time and time again, 'Don't go to college in a relationship; you'll regret it,' but are too naive to listen. Beckett and Bailey are inseparable; they've been a couple their entire childhood, and they're committed to making their relationship work while they attend separate colleges. But things quickly change: both find the distance difficult, and a boy named Adam catches Bailey's eye as early as move-in day. Adam and Beckett are opposites; Beckett is affluent and put together; Adam is disheveled, and his family struggles to make ends meet. Bailey's family has been best friends with Becket's family for years, and so she worries about what they will think. She fears venturing into a new relationship when she's only ever known one, which she thought would last forever. But the more she gets to know Adam, the more tempted she is to ride the wave with him into new and unknown waters, overcoming whatever obstacles and challenges may come their way.
