Gelatin-based hydrogels cross linked with genipin were developed & the impact of cross linking temperature on gel strength, microstructure, swelling & drug release were investigated. Freeze dried gelatin matrices cross linked with genipin at 5ºC, 15ºC and 25ºC, were developed & were characterized for cross linking density, compression strength, swelling behaviors &drug transport. Also, in vitro cell viability, cell cycle & apoptosis experiments with showed normal cell proliferation without any effect on cell cycle, indicating bio-compatibility.
