Autorenporträt
Silas H. Patterson grew up during the 1960's and 70's in Kenwood and Hyde Park, the neighborhood of the University of Chicago. He graduated from Kenwood High School and attended the University of Illinois Chicago Circle Campus (UIC). He was heavily influenced by the various movements that were occurring around him, from the Civil Rights and Anti-Vietnam war movements of the 1960's to the Black Nationalist movements of the early 1970's. All of which led to his joining the SGI and converting to Nichiren Buddhism in 1976. During his entire life he has spent working at all kinds of jobs in all kinds of places, from the University of Chicago law school print shop, m state to state as a travelling advertising agent, serving in the Illinois National Guard. Then from bicycle messenger to taxi driver, security guard, and telemarketer. Today he resides in the South Suburbs of Chicago with his wife and family.
