The use of platelet concentrates is part of the substitute therapeutic arsenal commonly used today. The transfusion of platelet products requires a mastery of the rules of use of these products (indications, doses, threshold, effectiveness and national and international recommendations). In this work we evaluated the requests for platelet products issued during a period of 3 consecutive months in order to propose corrective measures in case of deviation. Our study concerned 162 requests relating to 134 patients, emanating from the main transfusion services at the Hospital. It revealed some positive points, in particular the fact that the prescription orders are globally correctly filled for the majority of the items. This study also pointed out certain deficiencies, notably the desired dosage of platelets to be transfused as well as the weight of the patients in order to adapt the doses. Continuous training is necessary to ensure patient safety.
